Andrew “Andy” Edwards, 82, of Houston, TX passed away at 11:35 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in his residence.
Mr. Edwards was born on October 3, 1936 in Elton, LA where he was a graduate of Elton High School. Following graduation, he served in the US Army as a military police officer. After being honorably discharged, he settled in Lake Charles where he attended McNeese State University, was the manager of JC Penney Automotive, and was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. In 1985, he and his wife moved to Houston where he retired as a security officer for Hewlett Packard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Judith Edwards of Houston; four children, Cypi Atwell (Mark) of Lake Charles, Gerald Edwards of Lake Charles, Julia Collins of Houston, and Alan LaFleur (Mary) of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Malia Miller, Anthony LaFleur, Christopher LaFleur, Peyton Atwell, Cecilia Collins, and Seth LaFleur; and two great grandchildren, Quin Miller and Eva Rose Atwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorena and Gerald Edwards; and siblings, Gerline Tietje, Bob Edwards, and Luke Edwards.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Marcus Johnson will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow the services in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a cursillo rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. The gathering will continue Saturday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
