Anita Lavergne

November 5, 1940 — January 9, 2018

Anita Marie Lavergne passed away surrounded by her husband and children in prayer on January 9, 2018.

Anita was born in Church Point, Louisiana to Woodrow and Louise Boudreaux on November 5, 1940. They moved to Big Lake when she was an infant in 1941. She attended Grand Lake High School from first grade through twelfth grade and graduated as salutatorian in 1959.

She married Daniel R. Lavergne, Sr. on November 9, 1960. They had six children, two daughters, and four sons.

Anita was a full-time mother and wife for more than fifty-seven years. She lived a prayer-filled life with an amazing devotion to Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary.  She set a gold-standard example of faith for all of her family.  Her faith and clarity of purpose brought comfort, healing, and guidance to many people.  She has often been described by people in her community as a sweet lady with a warm smile.  She will be greatly missed by all, but the souls she encountered during her life will continue to strive to build and maintain a close relationship with Jesus because of her.

Anita is survived by her devoted husband of more than fifty-seven years, Daniel R. Lavergne, Sr.; her children, Danny Lavergne and wife Shelley, Mark Lavergne and wife Georgette, Tammy Thibodeaux and husband Danny, Chad Lavergne and wife Connie, Jody Lavergne and wife Jill, and Brandi Nunez and husband Kim; twenty-two grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; her sister Barbara Boudreaux; and her brother Craig Boudreaux and wife Linda.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Louise Boudreaux, and her sister, Sylvia Boudreaux.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from at 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.  Father Trey Ange will be the celebrant.

Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Lavergne, Mark Lavergne, Travis Lavergne, Tyler Lavergne, Patrick Lavergne, and Craig Boudreaux.
