Ann Lynn Gilliland Sim, 72, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, in La Mesa, California, following a lengthy illness.
Born on July 17, 1944 in Lake Charles to Gilbert Lee Gilliland, Jr. and Dorothy Ann Howe Gilliland, Ann grew up in Lake Charles. She was a 1962 graduate of Lake Charles High School and was a LCHS Kiltie. She graduated from McNeese State University in 1966, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Ann worked for the Louisiana Department of Welfare from 1966 until 1972, when she moved to California. She lived in Sierra Madre for a time and then moved to San Diego, where she resided for the rest of her life. Ann worked as an insurance salesperson, focusing mainly on group sales. She had many special friends and enjoyed traveling with them. Ann was of the Presbyterian faith.
Ann is survived by one sister, Katherine Gail “Kay” Gilliland of Lake Charles and her faithful friends, Peter Bergen and Vickie Wallace and their families, of El Cajon, California. She was preceded in death by her parents.
At her request, Ann’s body was cremated. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held in a Memorial Service at First Christian Church Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Reverend Chan Willis will officiate.
