Anna "Annie" Gail Dupree Allen, 65, of Lake Charles passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in a local hospital.
Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on June 27, 1961, she was a lifelong resident of the city she dearly loved. She graduated from Lake Charles High School before earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology from McNeese State University, along with teaching certificates in Social Studies and Elementary Education. She had a genuine love for children, which inspired her to dedicate nearly 25 years of service as an educator with the Calcasieu Parish School Board.
A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where she served as a lector, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and faithfully helped prepare the pews for worship (Pew Preppers). She was also formerly a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where she shared her love of music by singing in the church choir.
She embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. She loved celebrating Mardi Gras and was a proud member of the Krewe Du Couillon. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, expressing her creativity in ways that brought happiness to those around her.
She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her loving and gentle heart, and the compassion she showed to everyone she met.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 28 years, Michael James Allen; sisters, Linda Borck, Loretta Leger (Rodney), and Betty Jean Rowe (Bob); Godchildren, Seth Dodd, Katy Trahan and Emma Reeves; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved furry companion, Ginger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cherris and Mary Dupree and sister, Ellen Williams.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home with Deacon Richard Donahoe officiating. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions by made in Annie's name to the St. Martin de Porres Capital Project Fund.
