Anne Nettles

February 20, 1945 — August 22, 2020

Anne Nettles, 75, of Lake Charles, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at MD Anderson in Houston, TX.  She was born on February 20, 1945 in Oil City, PA to the late James A. and Mary Jane Long.

Mrs. Nettles was a registered nurse for over 40 years.  She was the first nurse hired by Women and Children Hospital in 1984 and was present for the first delivery there.  She always took great care of the babies, and was recognized around town as “Nurse Anne, who took care of you as a baby”.  She enjoyed anything and everything to do with her grandchildren, hiking, being in the mountains, Wednesday night suppers and fellowship at Trinity Baptist Church, and reuniting with NICU babies. After retirement, she enjoyed lunch, coffee, and shopping with her friends.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Nettles; 4 children, Shane Richards (Sandy), Scott Nettles (Natalie), Ryan Nettles (Candice), and Lauren Broussard (Randy); 8 grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Logan, Makenzie, Alexis, Addyson, Henry, and Rhett; 3 brothers, Jay Long, Jack Long, and Michael Long, all of California; and her mother-in-law, Eunice Nettles.

The family would like to thank not only the doctors and staff at MD Anderson, but the many friends that drove her to appointments, answered calls on the weekends and provided unconditional support/prayers to her and the entire family during her illness.  She never complained and always said she felt “fine”.  She cherished her time and friends in Colorado and always looked forward to getting back there every Summer.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles with Rev. Darren Worthington officiating.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church.
