Anthony "Tony" Wayne Dessicino, 79, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home in August 2025. He was born on October 24, 1945, in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey to Anthony Dessicino and Gladys Richardson Dessicino.
Tony was a man of few words but carried a love for his family, his country, and the things that intrigued him most. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he answered the call of duty and served his country in Vietnam. His time in the service left a lasting impression on him, and he never forgot his fellow veterans. Tony was a faithful supporter of the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
After his service, Tony eventually settled in Louisiana, where he worked as a butcher in several grocery stores, most notably Hebert's Grocery.
It was in Louisiana that Tony met the love of his life, Peggy Anita Hatfield. For the past thirty years, they shared a beautiful life together.
Tony's curiosity extended far beyond earth. As a young man, he witnessed an unidentified flying object in the sky, an experience that stayed with him for the rest of his life. He immersed himself in learning about UFOs and extraterrestrial life, and he loved gazing at the stars through his telescope. Tony would also regularly play SEGA games on his original console with his grandchildren and other modern video games as well.
He was also a great lover of animals, especially his two dogs, Poppy and Chloe.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Dessicino; his stepchildren, Richard Wymer (Dolce) and Joel Wymer (Vicki); grandchildren, Jessica Lytis Jackson (Joseph), Taylor Guillory (Martin), Alexis Wymer, and Tony Thach-Xion (Lylie); and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his step daughter Heidi Wymer
A memorial service to honor Tony will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, Louisiana.
Tony will be remembered as a quiet but steadfast man who loved his family, honored his fellow veterans, and lived life with wonder and devotion. He will be deeply missed.
