Ashlin Blouin Phillips, 41, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025 in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on January 13, 1984 in Wilmington, Delaware to Frank and Catherine Phillips.
Ashlin began her lifelong pursuit of everything musical even before entering school. That road began with the Kindermusik program at the University of Delaware and music would prove to be her lifelong passion. She attended first and second grades at Kemblesville Elementary in Landenberg, Pennsylvania prior to relocating with her family to Lake Charles. She made many lifelong friends in her remaining elementary school years at Our Lady Queen of Heaven followed by her years at Barbe High School. It was while at Barbe that Ashlin blossomed as a vocalist under the care and tutelage of Chris Miller. She performed in varying levels of choir but was happiest when chosen to perform in Barbe’s Show Choir. After graduation, Ashlin attended LSU. She studied voice and piano, initially as a voice major, then switched to earn a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
While at LSU Ashlin sought a creative outlet for her music, she answered an ad for a lead singer for an established college band, The Eames Era. The rest is history. She was in her element, song writer and lead female vocalist in an otherwise all male band. The band’s recognition grew, playing local venues in Baton Rouge and gaining a reputation. They found themselves in demand. They toured the United States twice, playing Chicago, New York, east coast and west. As their music became more popular, they were contacted and signed to use one of their songs for an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy”. They contracted to be the theme song on the movie “Lovewrecked”. Fate had other things in store, however. The Eames Era felt the impact of Hurricane Katrina in the fall of 2005, when their van collided with a military rescue vehicle, injuring Ashlin and a fellow bandmate and forcing them to cancel a tour scheduled for November 2005. While releasing one more album, LSU graduation ended the band’s glory days. Ashlin moved to Chicago where she was an event manager for Hyatt Hotel and properties. She decided to continue her education in Family Therapy and relocated to Los Angeles, California to attend The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She obtained her masters degree and worked toward her PsyD before relocating back to Lake Charles due to health issues and wanting to be near her father who was declining. She worked briefly as a therapist for Solutions Counseling & EAP. She was happiest reconnecting with old friends and being home with family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Catherine Phillips; her sister Kimberly E Phillips (Jerry), her significant other Tristan Kibodeaux, her Aunt Barbara Liese (Jim), Uncle Bruce Blouin (Sylvia), cousins Mike (Meghan), Jeff, Stephanie (Erik), Anthony (Demi), and Jason.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank Phillips.
Ashlin’s funeral will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, September 8, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the start of the service.
