Iowa – Audrey Nell Cormier Marcantel, born in Sweetlake on May 7, 1931, daughter of the late Leonard and Victoria (Corbello) Cormier, passed away in her residence Monday, November 21, 2022, at age 91.
A graduate of Bell City High, Audrey worked for South Central Bell, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Dr. V. Hugh Price, Radiology, and the Center for Orthopedics. The sisters of Dr. Michael DeBakey taught her medical terminology. She was a member of the National Medical Transcribers of America and organized and chartered the Lake Charles Medical Secretaries.
Audrey was active in many organizations throughout her life: Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, Louis L. Lust Ladies Auxiliary, service in all local offices. She was an associate member of Society of the 3rd Infantry Division, U. S. Army, Outpost #60.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven for over 40 years before relocating to the Iowa area and became a member of St. Joseph Mission Chapel, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the choir.
Audrey is survived by her children, Jackie Bowman (Leo), Kay Palmer, Beverly Precht (Billy); grandchildren, Joe Bowman (Michelle), David Bowman, Ashley Dishon (Todd), and Kris Alexander (Tammy).
She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Alvin “Snookie” Lognion, and 2nd husband, William A. “Bill” Marcantel. siblings, Harold, Vernon, Ethel, Reley, Ruby, and Ruth.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1 p.m. Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a rosary at 12:30 p.m.
