Audrey Savoie Daigle, born December 5, 1922, daughter of the late Pierre and Eddie May (Murphy) Savoie, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the age of 98.
Granny Bird, as she was known to all that loved her, enjoyed cooking, and Sunday lunches with her family. She loved her grandchildren and they loved her! She loved a good story, even if it was about herself.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, and later, after moving to Welsh following Hurricane Ike, she attended Our Lady of Seven Dolores. She worked as a secretary for the Cameron Clerk of Court and as a typist at Charlie Hebert Abstract.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Joseph Berton Daigle; siblings, Virgie Verrett; Eleanor Istre; Guidrey Savoie; son-in-law, Wayne Hebert; daughter-in-law, Linda Daigle.
Survivors include her children, Warner Dale Daigle (companion, Mildred Daigle) of Lake Charles; Gerald Wayne “Coe” Daigle (Mary Anne) of Lafayette, and Sandra Daigle Hebert of Metairie; grandchildren, Laura Arrington (Dwayne); Mary Elizabeth Daigle; William Daigle (Anna); James Daigle (Nanette); Jamie Daigle; Joshua Daigle (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Nicholas Arrington; Caitlin Arrington (fiancé, Caleb Young); Tyler Daigle; Grant Daigle; Ainsley Daigle; Adam Daigle; James “Fella” LeBlanc; Audrey Martinez; great-great grandchild, Sean Arrington; caregiver & partner in crime, Netta Bouley.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice nurses, Janice & Dee, for the loving care provided to their Granny Bird. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your charity of choice.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery in Creole under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service, with a rosary at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers assisting in her service will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
