On August 21, 1933, a beautiful baby girl was born to Edna Biagas and Willie Carriere, Sr., in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was one of ten children, five boys and five girls, and was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. She later met and married the love of her life, Ollie Riggs, on June 7, 1952. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Lake Charles, where they made their home and built a life centered on faith and devotion to those they loved most. From their union, God blessed them with three precious daughters, Janice, Judy, and Cynthia.
Audrey was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she faithfully attended the four o'clock Mass. Her faith was a quiet and steady presence in her life, reflected in the rosary she lovingly prayed each evening with her husband-a cherished ritual that spoke to her deep spiritual devotion.
A talented and creative woman, she delighted in tending her flowers, sewing, and creating ceramics. With loving hands and a generous heart, she sewed every stitch of her daughters' clothing from birth until their college years. She was also known for her love of cooking and found her greatest joy in gathering family around the table. Audrey had a joyful spirit and loved to laugh, dance, and listen to Zydeco music.
Family always came first for Audrey. She was a proud and loving grandmother who delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and being present in their lives. Fiercely independent by nature, she lived by her favorite saying, "Let me do," carrying herself with confidence and grace. Known for her impeccable style, she loved to shop and took great pride in her appearance, always presenting herself with elegance and care.
Her favorite time of year was Christmas, when her home transformed into a celebration of the season, filled with red décor and a warmth that reflected her generous heart. During this time, her home was especially full of family, love, and togetherness, just as she liked it.
