Austin Joseph Breaux, 92, of Lake Charles, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital. Austin was born on July 3, 1931, to Lannye and Amy Breaux in Lake Charles. He was a longtime resident of the south Lake Charles area and resided in Black Bayou for many years.
Austin proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he became a mechanic and retired from PPG Industries after many years of employment. Austin always lent a hand by working on the family and neighbor’s vehicles, tractors, etc. Dad was a hard worker, but made time for fishing, hunting, shrimping with family and friends. He loved the outdoors. There was always music in the home because Austin loved playing his french accordion and his fiddle for the family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Elaine and Michael Broussard of Woodbury, TN, Lionell and Mendy Breaux of Tomkinville, KY, Lydell Breaux of Gainesboro, TN, Twila and Kenneth McFarland of Lake Charles, LA, sisters; Elsie Breaux of Lake Charles, LA and Ada Aguillard of Grand Lake, LA. Grandchildren; Tabitha Smith, Heidi Smith, Joy Breaux Gardner, Darren Breaux, Aaron Breaux, Cheria Breaux, Michael McFarland, Julie McFarland, Laura Breaux Stoker, David Breaux, Kameryn Gardemal, Micah Gardner Great Grandchildren; Alyssa, Peterson, Amber Peterson, Ali Peterson, Avery Bowden, Day Stoker, Elise Breaux, Anita Breaux, Jackson McFarland, Blair McFarland, Kylie McFarland, Keelan, Silas Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; Dorothy Lee Lormand-Breaux, second wife; Gertrude Chaisson, Son; Randy J. Breaux, sisters; Lessie Adams and Bessie Breaux-Fontenot.
Visitation for Austin will be Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:00AM until 11:30AM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM also at the funeral home. Officiating services will be The Reverend Rick Treece and The Reverend Michael McFarland. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
