Avie “A.J.” Joseph Bourque, Jr., born in Kaplan on July 5, 1942, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the age of eighty-two.
A.J. was a graduate of Marion High School and served during the Vietnam War as a member of the U. S. Army. He enjoyed gardening, watching westerns and road trips. A.J. worked for Kroger’s for forty-three years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Avie Joseph Bourque, Sr., mother, Avalie Dartez Bourque, and brother, Paul Bourque.
The survivors are his wife of thirty-three years, Mary Ann Ogea; grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown funeral home of Iowa on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. David Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation begins Sunday at 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
