Barbara Ann Choate Arthur, 76, of Iowa, passed away at 6:20 PM on January 7, 2019 in Lake Charles.
Barbara was born on March 19, 1942 in Cameron, LA where she grew up. She resided several places throughout her life, including Hawaii and Wisconsin. In the early 1960’s she returned to her hometown until moving to Calcasieu Parish in 2000. She was an extremely hard worker, holding many positions in various fields including clerical/bookkeeping, healthcare, as well as being a small business owner.
Barbara, also lovingly known as Bobbie, enjoyed painting, crocheting, and quilt making. She was passionate about learning her family history; spending many years doing genealogy research. She was a loving and generous soul and an extraordinarily nurturing Mama and Granny. Barbara was loved by all she touched and will be remembered as a kind and precious friend.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Dale Dunno (Debbie) of Seward, Alaska, Richard Dale Dunno (Sonya) of Rayne, and Michelle Racca (Tim) of Lake Charles; sister, Lorraine Johnson of Big Lake; grandchildren, Ryan and Danny Dunno, Shaley Robert, Dalyn Racca, and Kyle, Kade, and Konar Terro; and great grandchildren, Mika, Eli’Jah, E’Veigha, Ayden, Nevaeh, Logan, Liam, MacKenzie, Ambree, Kade Jr., and Andrea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lelia and Joseph Choate; an infant daughter; a grandson, Josh Aaron Racca; siblings, Roy Choate, Wilson Choate, Eula Mae Griffith, and Gloria Bang.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Sweetlake Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 PM until 8 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 AM until the start of the service.
