Barbara "Jean" Hogue Jackson, 93, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026. Jean was born on June 11, 1933, in Sardis, Arkansas, to Maddie and Arlie Hogue. She lived a life defined by service, faith, and community.
Jean was a registered nurse for over thirty years. She worked at the hospital and at Butler Abshire Clinic in Haynesville for many years, where she devoted herself to caring for others with compassion and professionalism. Her commitment to service extended well beyond her career. Jean faithfully served her community by bringing people together for church and town events and was involved in numerous organizations, including Men's Breakfast, Country Club, Masonic Lodge functions, Ladies Bridge Club, and many others.
Jean was a devoted member of Haynesville United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She was a member of the Chancel Choir and Women's Circle, and her love for her church family was evident in all she did.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Charles Douglas Jackson and wife Diane, and Curtis Michael Jackson and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Mark and wife Tiffany, Melissa and husband Daryl, Devynn and husband Michael, Ashley and husband Brody, and Samantha and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emery, Lillian, Grayson, Emily, Margot, Brooks, and Beau; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Hoover Jackson; and her siblings, Billy Joe Hogue, Odis Hogue, Willie Marie Hogue-Styles, and Doris Hogue-Bradberry.
The family would like to thank the administration and staff of Villa Maria Retirement Center for their compassion and loving care towards Jean. Also, St. Joseph Hospice, Lake Charles for their compassionate care.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00pm at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
