Barbara Newell

Barbara Lynn Nicholson Newell, 74, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:38 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2020 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Newell was born September 9, 1946 in Grand Rapids, MI, where she lived until moving to Lake Charles when she was eighteen.  She worked as a teacher’s aide and retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board.  She enjoyed arts and crafts.

Mrs. Newell is survived by her daughter, Dawn Daigle and husband Donald; grandchildren, Aaron Richard and wife Darcy, Amber Seal and husband Jamie, Ashton Daigle and wife Andrea, Clayton Daigle, and Kaley Keller and husband Logan; thirteen grandchildren; her in-laws that she loved dearly, Mike and Angie Newell, Madora and Jim Sutherland, Charlotte and Ross Allured and David Newell and companion Darryl Aribus; along with a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband of fifty years, Jon Keith Newell; and son, Timothy Newell.

Her private graveside service will be entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
