Barbara Ann Trahan Wolfe, 87, of Grand Lake, entered enternal rest on Wednesday April 1, 2026.
Barbara was born in Johnson Bayou on February 5, 1939 as the second to the oldest of Archie and Jewel Rutherford Trahan. She grew up with six loving brothers, who looked up to their Sissy as more of a mentor than just a sister
Barbara was a brother wrangler, kid wrangler, grandkid wrangler, and even wrangled a few great-grandkids.
When she was a member of Cameron First Baptist Church, she volunteered with Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School. She continued volunteering as a charter member of Grand Lake Community Church.
Somewhere between corralling her family, crocheting, cooking, hummingbird watching, or gardening, Barbara went back to school to finish her diploma through the Cameron Community Action Agency with Mrs. Ruby Miller as her mentor/friend. With the motivation of her growing support system, Barbara graduated in 1998. Barbara entered the workforce in 1996 as a Bus Aide with the Cameron Parish Head Start. Then in 2001, Dinah Landry convinced her to come to work at the Cameron Council On Aging as a driver, where she remained until she retired in 2009. She was an active member in the Cameron Parish Senior Olympics, where she won many awards and made many new friends.
Surviving loved ones are, daughter, Cindy Wolfe; sons, Lane Wolfe(Bonnie) and Carl Wolfe(Simone); daughters-in-law, Sybil Saltzman Wolfe, Susie Fawvor, and Margaret Wolfe Primeaux(Arnie); brother, Jessie Nunez(Karen); sisters-in-law, Patty Trahan and Lois Gordon; brother-in-law, Ricky Wolfe(Gail); grandchildren, Robbie LaFosse(Stacy), Tina Wolfe, Sabrina Wolfe Conner(T-Mike), Joe Wolfe(Jamie), Ally Curtis Ashworth(Garrett), Mica LeBoeuf(Jamey), Shelby Wolfe Fountain(Chris); great-grandchildren, Jaleigh Wolfe, Hunter Conner, Xander Finch, Jaxon LaFosse, Jayden Wolfe, Kevin Curtis, Jerrick Curtis, Millie LaFosse, Bree Guillory, Jacie Wolfe, BraeLynn Curtis, Jozee Wolfe, Hailey Conner, and Ivy Fountain; and one great-great grandson on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George A. Wolfe; sons, George J. "Snookum" Wolfe and Gregory Wolfe; daughter, Bridget Wolfe Curtis; brothers, A.D.(Melba "Boonie"), Charles "Pete"(Leona), Jack(Sylvia), James, and Francis "Punkin"(Evon) Trahan.
Escorting her to her final resting place are pallbearers Lane Wolfe, Carl Wolfe, Chris Fountain, Jamey Fawvor, Robbie LaFosse, Joe Wolfe; honorary pallbearers, Jessie Nunez, Ricky Wolfe, Sybil Wolfe, Susie Fawvor, and grand and great-grandkids.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lincoln and his staff as well as the nursing staff on the 3rd floor of St. Pats for all of their love and care.
A funeral service for Barbara will take place Monday, April 6 2026 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM the same morning and last until the start of the service. conducted by Wade and Lloyd Carroll and Brother Bob Fruge. Burial will be in Sweetlake-Grand Lake Cemetery on the corner of Robinson and Cox Roads. After graveside service, Grand Lake Community Church(954 Hwy 384/Grand Lake) will host family and friends.
