Barbara Lynn Young

Barbara Lynn Dowies Young, 79, passed away Monday August 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 11, 1947 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Therrill Floyd and Rita Desselle Dowies.

Barbara was a graduate of Oakdale High School class of 65 where she loved her classmates and looked forward to their reunions. Barbara worked and retired from Reinauer Real Estate working as an office manager and bookkeeper. Barbara was a hard worker from bookkeeping to catering for churches. She worked and was a member of Longville First Baptist and Gillis First Baptist. She was an incredible cook and catered at churches.

Those left to cherish her memories are husband of 48 years, Dwight Glenn Young; children, Douglas Chandler (Sherie), Thomas Young (Krista), Apryl Benoit (Kenneth Squibb); grandchildren, Kameron (Laura), Jacob, Bryson, Braylee, Jaci, Austyn, Dustyn; great grandson, Gabriel; brother, Allen Dubroc; sisters, Venita Barton (Thomas), and Sherrill Hernandz; numerous loving nieces and nephews; loving dog, Ollie.

She is preceded in passing by her parents; daughter, Lisa Chandler; sisters, Reba Andrepont and Patricia Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Palestine Baptist Cemetery.
