The birth of Becky Ann Stewart Davis, September 26, 1939, gave us a gracious, caring, loving person. She gave of herself in many ways.
Becky graduated from Central School and Lake Charles High School. She went to McNeese State College and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Fairview Elementary, met and married Gayle Davis and they moved to Beaumont, Texas with Gayle’s job for a few years before moving back to Lake Charles. Becky began her own school, Wee Wisdom Pre-School in 1976, which later became St. Luke Simpson Methodist Pre-School. Here she molded little ones, preparing them for first grade and life in general. She was always gentle and kind with the children, even when correcting their behavior. Becky always remembered her students’ names and their parents and loved hearing about their present lives. She and her family traveled extensively abroad and in the United States. In later years, Becky and Gayle had a goal to visit every Presidential Library in the United States, which they completed.
Becky belonged to First United Methodist Church, First Methodist Women, L’Argent Investment Club, Petroleum Wives Club, The Caring Ministry of FUMC, Open Door Sunday School class and LCHS Class of 1957 Lunch Group. She served as needed in all her activities. She was an avid reader and attended many religious studies classes, always prepared.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Stewart Davis; her daughter, Susan Colvin (Doug); her grandchildren, Kim Lyon (Bud), Nicholas Colvin (Loren) and Kassidy Colvin; her four great grandchildren, Dominic, Kooper, Bronson and Pierce Davis: and her sister Janice Fruge. Becky was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gayle Norman Davis. Becky was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Elsie Stewart, and her husband’s parents, Willie and Elsie Davis.
