Bennett James “Jim” Reaves, III, of Lake Charles, LA, died Thursday evening, December 20, 2018.
Jim was born February 2, 1934 in Lake Charles, LA and lived all of his childhood in Little Rock, AR, where he graduated from the University of Arkansas. He was an SAE Fraternity Alumni. After graduation, he moved back to Lake Charles, where Jim worked for the family business, Noble et.al. He served on the Board of the Episcopal Day School, The Lacassine Company Board of Directors, and CKX Lands, Inc. and numerous others. Jim was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He was an avid duck and goose hunter, enjoyed playing Handball and boating. But most of all, his family took first place in his heart.
Jim is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Caroline Reaves; children, Bennett James “Jamie” Reaves, IV and wife Ashley of Houston, TX, Elizabeth Reaves Burns and husband Kevin of Moss Bluff, and Patricia Reaves Baily and husband Gary of Park City, UT; sister, Anne Reaves Dunlap of Naples, FL; and his grandchildren, Noble Burns, Ansley Burns, and Madelynn Reaves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Bennett James Reaves, Jr. and Eula Noble Reaves; and his faithful hunting partner, Blondie.
His memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The Very Reverend John G. “Jack” Myers will officiate. Visitation will be in the church parish hall from 2:00 PM until the start of the service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John W. Noble, Sr., Judge David Painter, John Poché, all of Lake Charles, William P. Fuller of Kinder, and Harry Leggett and Carl Rosenbaumn of Little Rock, AR.
