Bernadine "Dean" Fontenot

Bernadine “Dean” Mae Cormier Fontenot, 83, of Lake Charles, LA died at 6:30 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in a local hospital.

 

Mrs. Fontenot was born August 8, 1934 in Elton, LA and raised in Kinder, LA. She has lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles, LA, where she raised her family. Mrs. Fontenot was a member of South City Christian Church, where she had numerous life-long friendships and was active with the Ladies Bible Study. She enjoyed gardening and raising her flowers, fishing, traveling, but above all, she had a great love for God and her family. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and as a Cajun lady who showed love to all that she met.

 

Mrs. Fontenot is survived by her children, Brenda Richard and husband Clemile of Lake Charles, Kenneth W. Fontenot and companion Tammy Brown of Zwolle, LA, Donna Hambrick and husband Gregory of Lake Charles, and Melissa Everett and husband Arnie, also of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren with one on-the-way; and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeeRoy Fontenot; parents, Thorvel and Laura Cormier; and siblings, Teo Cormier, Eugene Cormier, Orice Cormier, Lenuis Cormier, Evance Cormier, Clevance Cormier, Bernice Broussard, Lucille Mallet, and Aline Hebert.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Robby Bacon will officiate. Burial will follow in Black Bayou Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
