Bernice Ethel Louviere

May 8, 1921 — October 28, 2016

Bernice Ethel Louviere, 95, passed away in her sleep Friday, October 28, following a brief illness.  She was born in Lake Charles, La, and lived most of her life in Sulphur.

She married George Louviere when she was 21, and they settled in Sulphur, where they opened Louviere Jewelers on the corner of Huntington (Ruth Street) and Napoleon (Hwy 90), and enjoyed serving the Sulphur community for 50 years.  Most of the Sulphur High Schools during that time bought their Senior rings--and then their wedding bands--there.  She was only 49 years old when her husband, George (the love of her life), died and she took over as head of our family and business.

She led a life filled with love and devotion, for her parents, husband, and children.  Her faith in Christ was unending and complete.  Even when their son, Robert (who died of Lou Gehrig disease at 42 yr old), she was shaken but her faith pulled her through.  She was a multi-talented performer in her earlier years--ballet, adagio, tap, etc--and she had the singing voice of an angel.  She used that angelic voice to sing in several Lake Charles and Sulphur church choirs for as long as she could.

She is survived by her children, Yolande Bowman of Sulphur; Bernice Arceneaux (Kent) of Houston; Jeanette Wyninger (PorterBill) of Sulphur; Laura Chesson (Al) of Sulphur; Carl Louviere of Westlake; James Louviere (RuthAnn) of Broussard; Gerard Louviere (Shari) of Moss Bluff.  Grandchildren Chuck Bowman; Paula Hunter (Bob); Renee Supplee (Craig); Darren Arceneaux (Bonnie); Michael Wyninger (Ronda); David Wyninger (Christine); Jennifer Deason (Chris); Blaine Wyninger (Denise); Angela Wentzell (Scott); Chris Chesson; Jeremy Chesson; Kirk Chesson (Jen); Alece Louviere; Marissa McClellen (Brandon); Cristy Clark (Trent); Tara Bennett (Frank); Ryan Louviere (Emily); Linde Dean (Dustin); Hayley Urban (Richard); Cody Louviere (Marti); and Travis Louviere.  And many, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren (like, lots--and some still baking). Bernice is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Simon and Laura Langlinais Huval; her siblings, Lloyd Huval, Laura Granger, Mayon Guillory, Orisla Boudreaux, Sadie Huval and Willard Huval,
