Bernice Beaugh Bertrand, 85 of Lake Charles, LA was called Home on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Herbert and Belcy Beaugh welcomed her into this world on May 26, 1935 in Holmwood, LA. As one of seven children, her love of family was instilled at a young age.
She was a lifelong faithful member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, a faith she lovingly instilled in her children. It was the simple things in life that brought her the most joy, second to her faith was her family. She was a pillar to her two daughters, teaching them that no matter the situation, you must reflect on what path to take, and trust in God that you will get through it. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially pouring her love into the Sunday meals prepared following church. When she graduated to “Granny”, she made sure to attend as many sporting events as she could, cheering loudly from the sidelines.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, John Chris Bertrand; a daughter, Christine Bertrand Duos; a granddaughter, Kayla Duos; her parents; two sisters, Helen Nassar and Kathryn Morgan.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Melanie (Hardy) Dyson of Orange, TX, a son in-love, Kenneth Duos of Lake Charles, LA, and a son, Gregory Bertrand of Palm Springs, CA; her grandchildren, Brandon (Stacey) Duos, Kristy Duos, Katy Edgerton, Tyler Burleson, Hunter (Lauren) Burleson; great grandchildren, Lauren Duos, Luke Duos, and Skyla Edgerton; her siblings, Nelda Landry of Williamston, SC, Dennis Beaugh of Sulphur, LA, Timothy Beaugh of Scott, LA, and Neal Beaugh of Lake Charles, LA.
The family will welcome friends at Lake City Baptist Church located at 3940 Holly Hill Rd, Lake Charles, LA on Sunday, May 9, 2021 beginning at 4pm to 7pm, with a Rosary to be prayed at 6pm. Visitation will resume Monday, May 10, 2021 at 10am until time of Service. A funeral service led by Monsignor Torres will begin at 11am. She will be laid to rest at Prien Memorial Gardens.
The family wants to extend a wholehearted thank you to Francy Sams; to them, she was more than a care giver, but a heaven-sent angel. Also, to Harbor Hospice for the care in her final days.
