Bernice Marie Blanchette, 88, left her earthly body and entered into the presence of her Lord on March 13, 2017, She was in her home surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was born on February 10, 1929 in Orange, TX to Frank and Vivian Bergeron.
Bernice retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a Cafeteria Manager after serving for 29 years. She loved to work in her yard and enjoyed watching her flowers grow and bloom. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.. Bernice took great pleasure in cooking for her family and their friends every Sunday and on holidays.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 63 years, Ted Blanchette. She is also preceded by one brother, Lennis Bergeron and three sisters; Hazel Primeaux and Hortense LeBlanc of Orange, TX; and, Ortie Bonsall of Vinton, LA. Bernice is also preceded by her grandsons, Joshua Ramsey and Kenny Wayne Willis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children; Russell and Starr Blanchette, of Westlake, LA, Linda and James Willis of Denham Springs, LA, Sherry and David Myers of Snellville, GA, and Janell and Mike Ramsey of Winder, GA. She has 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
Bernice’s family will welcome friends in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home from 5-9PM on Wednesday, March 15, with a Rosary at 6:00 by Starr Blanchette. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning, March 16, from 10:30AM until the time of services at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Msgn. Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memory Garden under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
