Bernie Jinks, 74, of Sulphur passed away on October 31, 2018 surrounded by his family. He retired after 40 years from Amoco as a pumper. Bernie enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, raising pigs for 4-H, showing hogs and being around family and friends. Bernie proudly served our country in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Bernie is survived by his children, Kyle Jinks and wife Dena of Grant, LA, Roni Ackley and husband Cory of Maryland and Stevie Jinks of Hackberry; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, Derald “Binky” Jinks and Lester Jinks; and three sisters, Mona Burleigh, Lucinda Jinks and Bobbie Jo LeBlanc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents, Clifford and Sadie Jinks; and one sister, Bevlyn “Belle” Talbot.
Services for Bernie will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry. Burial will follow at New Hackberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church hall from 5-9 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8 AM until the time of service.
