Bertha Mae Duhon

December 8, 1934 — January 28, 2017

Ms. Bertha Mae Duhon, passed away on January 28, 2017 with her family by her side.

 

Ms. Duhon lived her whole life in Creole, LA until Hurricane Rita in 2005. She was a member of Scared Heart in Creole and was part of the Lady’s Altar Society. She loved to cook and go to flea markets with family and friends. Ms. Duhon was a generous, open-hearted woman that always wanted to make sure you had enough to eat. She was the recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honor, presented by Bishop Jude Speyer. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily. She was very proud of her three boys and loved her grandchildren very much.

 

She is survived by her three sons, Rickey Duhon (Debbie), Tony Duhon (Rhonda), and Glenn Duhon; brother, Ray Boudoin (Billie), Jennings; sister, Carolyn Bertrand (Wilbert), Lake Arthur; six grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arceneaux and Lillian Boudoin; husband of sixty-three years, Thomas Duhon; and brother, Percy Boudoin.

 

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 1:30PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier. Father Clyde Thomas will officiate. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 12:30PM.
