Bertha Maxey

Bertha Maxey, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in her residence.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; her family was her world. Bertha never met a stranger and was selfless when it came to helping anyone who was in need. She treasured her time spent with her family and enjoyed visiting over the phone with extended family members.  She loved traveling and occasional trips to the casinos.  Bertha will be remembered for her strong faith, and her love and dedication to her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tonya Hoffpauir; grandchildren, Brandon Fontenot, Crystal Pyle (Rudy O’Quain), Drake Hoffpauir, Bryce Hoffpauir (Loren), and Keegan Hoffpauir; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Billings, Jace Sonnier, Chace and Chance O’Quain, Bentley Hoffpauir, Neveah Trahan, and Rowan Hoffpauir; and her brother, Wilfred Matte. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Angelia Phillips; great grandchild, Jance Sonnier; parents, Abra Matte, Sr., and Agnes Matte; two brothers Abra Matte, Jr., and Davis Matte.

A Memorial Service celebrating Bertha’s life will be 12PM, Monday, May 13, 2024, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home. Rev. Sean Barron will officiate. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10AM until time of service at 12PM.
