Bertha Juanita “Nita” Theriot, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2018.
She was born on January 2, 1929 in Opelousas, LA to Melvin and Laura Chechere Young. Mrs. Theriot was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of Eastwood Pentecostal Church for 35 years. She managed the Black Angus Restaurant for many years, where she was well known as “Ms. Nita”. She enjoyed fishing and gardening and will be remembered as a loving and giving lady who won the hearts of everyone she met with her gentle spirit.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Pete Miller (Connie), Ramona Hammers, Gwen Porche, and Dale Owens (Honorary Son); grandchildren, Cassandra Bankens, Dana Jackson, Angela Borel, Candace Snider, Cindy Weaver, David Wayne Ramirez and Jake Porche; fifteen great grandchildren; and six great, great grandchildren, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Theriot; parents; and siblings, Alice Jackson and Allen Young.
Her funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Eastwood Pentecostal Church. Pastor Aaron Lopez will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at the church.
