Bertha Lee Richard Watson, born in Kinder on March 7, 1931, daughter of the late Samuel and Lavinia Buller Lormand, passed away in a local care facility on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the age of ninety-three.
Bertha, a devoted member of Indian Village United Pentecostal Church, retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board as cafeteria manager of LaGrange High School with thirty years of service. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and most importantly, being with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward Richard, Harvey Watson; son, Carl Edward Richard; siblings, Dorothy Lormand Breaux, Bobby Lormand, Felix Able Lormand, Merthale Lormand Nixon.
Survivors are her daughter, Dianne Schexnider; grandchildren, Jacie Richard Moore (Jay), DeAndra Perkins Cironi (Michael); great-grandchildren, Christopher Cironi, Nick Cironi, and Jax Moore.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 2 p.m. Rev. Terry Bushnell, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Green Oaks Cemetery in Kinder under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Saturday in the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
