It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Ann Buquet, who left this world on July 16, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on October 22, 1930, in Rayne, Louisiana, Betty lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving a cherished legacy of kindness and warmth.
Betty is survived by her devoted daughter, Geralyn Cassia and her husband, Tom; her loving son, Richard Buquet and his wife, Dianne. She also leaves behind her dear sister Marie Richard. Betty's love extended to her twelve grandchildren: Loren, Lori, Kelly, Matt, Megan, Jason, Melissa, Zachary, Tyler, Lindsey, Lacey, and Chad, as well as her 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
A true matriarch, Betty was a proud homemaker who dedicated herself to her family and her community. She was an active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, a Catholic Daughter, and a participant in AARP and the Garden Club. Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her garden, sharing coffee with friends, or playing Bouree and Bingo. Her vibrant spirit and commitment to keeping Iowa beautiful will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family invites you to gather in remembrance of Betty on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Public visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, with a Rosary recited at 10:15 AM, leading into a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Betty will then be laid to rest in Lacassine Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting are Matt Heflin, Jaxon Fruge, Josh Abbott, Ethan and Mike Williams, Micah Van Slyke.
As we come together to celebrate her remarkable life, we remember Betty Ann Buquet as a shining soul who brought joy and love to all she encountered. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Buquet; her parents, Conrad and Mable Caillouet Hoffpauir; five angel babies; siblings, Nettie Mae, Otis, Bert, Juanita, Sybil, Allen, Norbert, Conrad, Josie, Edward, Gerald, and Phyllis, who welcomed her with open arms.
