Betty Martin Broussard

August 25, 1929 — September 8, 2025

Betty Martin Broussard, 96, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 25, 1929, in Lake Charles to Allen and Laurence Broussard Martin, Betty lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She graduated from St. Charles Academy in 1946 and remained a proud alumna throughout her life.

A devout Catholic, Betty was a faithful member of both The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Churches. She was also active in the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society, where she offered her time, prayers, and talents in service to her parish communities.

Betty had a warm and generous spirit. She delighted in cooking meals for her family and friends, creating not just food but cherished memories around the table. She was an avid reader who found joy and wisdom in the written word and enjoyed spending time in her garden.

Above all, Betty will be remembered for her love of faith, her devotion to family, and her gentle, giving heart. Her legacy of kindness and grace will live on in the lives she touched.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tina Claire McInnis (James), Gabriel A. Broussard (Sandi), Timothy Broussard (Yoko), and Guy Edwin Broussard (Becky); and her grandchildren, James Patrick McInnis, George Broussard, Matthew Brousard, Jared Broussard, and Aaron Broussard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 62 years, Patrick E. Broussard; her infant son, Patrick Joseph Broussard; and her siblings, Elsie Theriot, Allen Martin, Jr., Rita Begnaud, Fay Ross, and Frederick Martin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church with Msgr. Jace Eskind serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake St. on Friday, September 12 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.
