Betty Lee Daigle

May 12, 1943 — Jul 7, 2026

Lake Charles, Louisiana

Betty Lee Daigle, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Born on May 12, 1943, in Carencro, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Whitney, Jr. and Rita Frugé Matthieu.

Betty was raised in Lafayette, where she spent her early years before moving to Lexington, Kentucky, in 1962. Lexington quickly became a place she cherished and proudly called home for many years. It was there that she met and married her first husband, Thomas Poletti. They shared nine years of marriage before his passing.

Betty devoted 31 years of her career to Delta Air Lines, serving as a customer service representative. She took pride in her work and in helping others throughout her career before retiring in 1995. A woman of faith, Betty was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

In 1997, Betty met Leeland Daigle while attending a Cajun dance, beginning a relationship built around a shared love of music and dancing. They later made their home together in Lake Charles, moving there in 2011.

Betty embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed staying active. She loved aerobics, taking walks, and spending time with her beloved dogs. Music was always close to her heart, especially Cajun and Swamp Pop, and she could often be found on the dance floor enjoying both. Her love of dancing brought her lasting friendships and, ultimately, the love of her life.

Betty will be remembered for the joy she found in life's simple pleasures, the kindness she shared with those around her, and the happiness she found in music, family, and the companionship of those she loved. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will remain a treasured part of their hearts.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Keith Daigle, and Scott Daigle; her granddaughter, Carli Daigle; and her life-long friend, Cora E. Bowling. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Poletti; and her husband, Leeland Daigle.

Betty's funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday July 15, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street, with Msgr. Jace Eskind presiding. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
