Betty Desormeaux Leger, 83, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:11 AM on Wednesday, December 06, 2017 in her residence.
Mrs. Leger was born on May 7, 1934 in Hayes, LA and moved to Lake Charles at a very young age where she remained there all of her life. She was a long time member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she taught Catechism for 7 years under Monsignor Irving DeBlanc. Mrs. Leger was a past member and Senior Regent of the Lake Charles Moose Lodge.
She enjoyed making rosaries in her free time. Mrs. Leger was loved by all who were fortunate to have known her and will be remembered as a kind hearted lady who never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry Leger (Stephanie) and Kevin Leger (Judy) all of Iowa; brother, James “Jim” Desormeaux (Sandra) of Winnie, TX and Curtis Desormeaux (Kathy) of The Colony, TX; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Leger; a daughter, Nancy Leger; a son, Malcolm Leger, Sr.; a brother, Allen Desormeaux; and a great grandson, Maximus Leger.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 11:30 AM.
Her grandchildren will proudly serve as pallbearers.
