With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Elliott Dillehay, who departed this life on December 13, 2025, in Iowa, Louisiana, at the age of 81. Born on July 18, 1944, in Columbia, Louisiana, Betty lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends.
A proud graduate of Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, Louisiana, Betty showcased her remarkable talent as a successful insurance agent before transitioning to her cherished role as a homemaker in 1994. She created a warm and loving home for her family, where laughter and joy flourished.
Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Arthur "AC" Dillehay, with whom she shared nearly 13 wonderful years and 17 years of companionship. Together, they created countless cherished memories. Betty's nurturing spirit extended to her children, Mark Elliott and Lisa Wood, and she found immense joy in her grandson, Julian Elliott, and step-granddaughter, Tammy Elliott. She also cherished her niece, Danielle Fowler, her brother, Billy Stegall, and her sister, Judith Flores.
An avid gardener and animal lover, Betty took great joy in her chihuahua, Maggie Mae, and delighted in spending time outdoors. Her love for music was evident in her extensive collection and her fondness for gatherings, such as crawfish boils and watching LSU football with friends and family. Her adventurous side shined through in the time she spent on her pontoon boat and cruising around in her LSU golf cart.
Betty was the embodiment of compassion and grace, a true peacemaker who made each person around her feel valued and loved. Throughout her illness, she formed a special bond with her nurses from Heart of Hospice, who brought her comfort and warmth during her last days and cherished the affectionate hugs that she shared with them.
A woman of deep faith, Betty embraced her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and now she rests peacefully in His arms.
A Celebration of Life honoring Betty will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for friends and family to come together to share cherished memories and celebrate the incredible life she led. Further details will be announced by the family as we remember and honor the extraordinary woman who touched so many lives.
In this time of sorrow, may we all carry forward Betty's spirit of love and compassion in our hearts. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Toby Stegall and Mary Volentine Stegall; her sisters, Gladys Hutson and Eunice Ainsworth; her previous husbands, Julian "Buddy" Elliott, and Billy Haggart.
