Sulphur - Betty Flowers Penton, 80, died Friday, May 29, 2015. She was born on February 4, 1935 to Simeon "Simmy" and Francis Flowers in Glenmora, LA. After moving to Sulphur at about the age of 14, she graduated from Sulphur High School in 1953. She then attended St. Mary's Nursing School in Galveston, TX. Betty married John "Jack" Penton in 1956, and had two children, Liz and Mark. She was a dedicated nurse at West Cal-Cam Hospital for 30 years with the last 10 years serving as Director of Nursing under the direction of Mr. Frank Gale. Throughout their marriage Jack and Betty sold antiques in Sulphur and out of town for years. After retirement she enjoyed her family, antiquing, traveling, Toledo Bend and her dogs, Suri and Sky. Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Wesley Penton of Sulphur; her daughter, Elizabeth Molbert; her son, Mark Penton and wife Sandy; her grandson, Warren Bernis and wife Shelly; her great grandson, Wesley Thomas Bernis; and her cousin, Mary Lynn Willis and husband Don. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simeon and Francis Flowers; 4 brothers, Donald and Shermon Flowers, and Mervin and Sam Giles; a sister, Lonnie Flowers; and a granddaughter, Tara JoAnn Penton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Willis officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon St., Sulphur, LA 70663. Visitation will continue on Monday at the funeral home at 9 A.M. until time of the service.
