Betty Jane Fontenot McBride, 79, of Edmond, OK, died at 9:04 AM on Monday, April 10, 2017 in her residence.
Mrs. McBride was born November 2, 1937 and graduated from Ville Platte High School. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles, except for the ten years in Saudi Arabia and the past few years in Oklahoma. During her younger years, she worked for George Theriot’s, Olan Mill’s Photography and American Bank of Commerce. She was a member the Church of Christ in Lake Charles. Mrs. McBride loved to read and spend time with her children and grandchildren, but had a passion for traveling. She will always be remembered for her feisty personality and her love of helping others.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her children, Michael J. McBride, Sr. and wife Mona, Julie Moore and husband Jesse and Carl E. McBride; sister, Genevia McGee and husband Larry; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene McBride; parents, Dolsey and Julia Johnson Fontenot; sisters, Lou Ella Deville and Ella Mae Bell; and brothers, Clevelen Fontenot, LeeRoy Fontenot, and Jimmy Fontenot.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at South City Christian Church. Reverend Danny Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in Black Bayou Cemetery in Big Lake, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
