Betty Lou Chesson Duhon, 85, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 in a local hospital surrounded by loved ones after a hard fought illness.
Mrs. Duhon was born August 3, 1931 in Bell City, LA. She was a founding member of Sweet Lake Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years and influenced many young lives. She retired as a bus driver from the Cameron Parish School Board after twenty-five years. She loved to draw and paint and enjoyed spending time with her family cooking Sunday dinners. She will always be remembered for her smile and her wonderful personality.
Mrs. Duhon is survived by her only son, David Duhon and wife Elva; grandchildren, Amanda Ware and husband Cody, Chris Duhon and wife Tiffany, and Jordan Duhon; four great-grandchildren, Regan Ware, Camryn Duhon, Carley Duhon and Kolby Duhon; and her sister, Nelda Stanley and husband Gene; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of fifty-four years, Clyde H. Duhon; parents, Placid and Ina Chesson; brothers, Lilton “Chook” and Edward Chesson; and sisters, Pearl Thompson, Louella Hinton, Joyce Precht; and infant sister, Lela Chesson.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Daniel G. Stanley, Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Koehler, Dr. Ieoub, and the countless other doctors, nurses and aids at Memorial Hospital for their compassion and everything that they did.
