Betty Maas

Betty Jane Wanage Lannin Maas, 87 of Lake Charles, LA passed away May 4, 2025.

She was born March 7, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA to Lydia Wannage and Fred Strandt, growing up in Grand Lake. She was a graduate of Grand Lake High School, then enrolled in International San Antonio Bible College Baptist Association. In 1962 she enlisted in The United States Navy, working for Chris Craft Boats.

Following her service, she eventually returned to home to SWLA. Her hobbies were painting, quilting, crossword puzzles, fishing, billiards, and occasionally video poker. She had a soft spot in her heart for children, often donating to St. Jude.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia; step-father, Clifford Lannin; brothers, Sonny, Joseph Thomas; sister, Marie Fontenot; one grandchild; and 2 great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Laurie LaBauve (Bob) and Linda Daigle; two sisters, Martha Sarver (Buzz) and Carol Fox (Bob); a brother, Mark Lannin (Drue); eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Celebration of life to be held, May 31, 2025 beginning 11am with gathering to follow until 1pm at Vineyard Lake Charles.

In lieu of flowers, family asks donations be made in her memory to St. Jude or any local organization supporting children with cancer.
