Betty Lou Sonnier, born in Sulphur, Louisiana on January 7, 1936, the youngest daughter of the late Sylvia "Big Momma" LeJeune Sonnier of Estherwood, LA and the late John "Big Daddy" Alcee Sonnier of Crowley, LA. Betty Lou Sonnier passed softly from this world and entered the gates of Heaven on August 10, 2025, at the age of 89. She was the widow of Jack Dale Sonnier (1933-1998).

Betty lived a life filled with love, laughter, and simple joys. She found her greatest happiness in caring for others, whether it was through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a delicious home-cooked meal. Cooking was one of her greatest gifts, and Sunday lunches at her home were more than just meals they were gatherings of love, where family and friends came together to share both joys and sorrows. Every bite was seasoned not only with flavor, but with her heart.
She enjoyed many hobbies that reflected her gentle spirit and joyful heart such as working jigsaw puzzles and word searches, crocheting, bird watching, and sitting around the table with friends over a good cup of coffee. Each bird that visited her yard brought her a spark of delight, and she always found beauty in life’s smallest blessings.
Betty loved music and dancing, often enjoying evenings out to listen to live bands. She held a special place in her heart for the Catholic Youth Organization and loved being part of a community that shared her faith and values.
Her career reflected her love for children. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board in the school cafeteria, where she greeted students each day with kindness, and later at Ms. Pam’s Play School as a daycare worker, where her nurturing nature shined.
She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the way she made everyone feel special and cared for. Betty’s legacy will live on in the memories she created and the love she poured into all she did.
