Billie Jewel Goux, 87, formerly of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on December 17, 2017, in Clearlake, TX, surrounded by her loving family. Billie was born on March 3, 1930, in Vinton, LA to John and Margaret Ecker Trahan.
As a young woman, Billie attended Lake Charles High School where she served as Kiltie Colonel in her senior year. She later graduated from Southwest Louisiana Institute (SLI), later renamed University of Louisiana Lafayette (ULL). She married the love of her life, John Goux on December 26, prior to him being stationed at Dothan, AL.
Billie loved people and dedicated herself to finding ways to meet the needs of the less fortunate. She was best known for her service to the Dorcus Ministry at Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church. For the past several years she has lived with her daughter in Texas.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of over 50 years, John Goux.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Margaret and husband Bruce White of Dickinson, TX along with her four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2017, from 4PM-9PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home from 9AM-1PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Funeral Services will be at 1PM officiated by Rev. Ray Hundley. Billie will be buried at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dorcus Ministry at Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church.
