Billy Dan "Bill" Gwatney

Billy Dan "Bill" Gwatney, 80, of Henderson, LA, died on Monday, October 26, 2015, in an Alexandria, LA hospital. Mr. Gwatney was born May 13, 1935 in Conway, AR and moved to the Lake Charles area in 1942. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1953 and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the oilfield industry for over fifty years, retiring in 2005 from Baker / Hughes. During his career, he worked as an oil tool and fishing tool operator and worked as a contractor to the oilfield industry during the last five years. He enjoyed golfing, and loved to spend time with his family and friends. Mr. Gwatney is survived by his sons, Brent Gwatney and wife Anne of Springdale, AR and Craig Gwatney of Abbeville, LA; daughter, Kristi Waggener and husband Darrell of Natchitoches, LA; brother, Jimmy Gwatney of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Devin Todd, Jancie Gwatney, Elizabeth Gwatney, Leigh-Anne Gwatney, and Brent Gwatney, Jr. His funeral service will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
