Iowa – Bobbie Ray Fontenot, born March 27, 1936 in Lafayette, son of the late Neisley and Lillian (Guidry) Fontenot, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 in a local hospital at the age of 82.
Bobbie retired from the U. S. Airforce and retired from Shell Oil Co. and did security work upon retirement. He enjoyed cars, guns and airplanes. Bobbie was a member of Wheatland Masonic Lodge, Habibi Shrine Center and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Trahan) Fontenot; daughters, Lynn Russell (James), Sherry Bush, Theresa Luquette, all of Texas, Julie Fontenot of Lake Charles; step-daughters, Tracey Vincent, Tonya Fontenot (Wayne) of Iowa; sons, John Fontenot of Colorado; step-sons, John Payne of Canada, Ricky & Billy Soileau of Lake Charles; siblings, Linda Moore of Galliano, LA, Vickie Hebert (Roger), Betty Doyle, both of Iowa, Ronnie Fontenot (Joy) of DeQuincy, Brian Fontenot (Tina) of Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joel Fontenot; mother of 4 children, Wendy Fontenot; mother of 1 child, Jean Soileau.
A gathering of friends and family will be Monday, April 16, 2018 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., with a memorial service at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa.
