Bonita Sue Fontenot Blair

Bonita Sue Blair, of Sulphur, LA, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, with her loving husband at her side. Bonita was born in Sulphur, LA on September 23, 1953, to Rev. D.W. and Myra Fontenot.

Bonita was a graduate of Sulphur High School and attended McNeese State University where she received her Master’s Degree plus thirty. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, retiring after 36 years. She served as a teacher and as a Reading Specialist in the Department of Assessment and Accountability, working with both elementary and high school students. Bonita served as Youth Pastor at Southside Assembly of God where her parents pastored. She was recently a member of Glad Tidings Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher.

Bonita loved animals and had a passion for rescuing lost and stray dogs and cats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Buddy Fontenot and her nephew, James H. “Jimbo” Fontenot, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 43 years, Roger Blair, and her brother James (Sharon) Fontenot. Others who will dearly miss her include: her brothers-in-law, Phil (Carol) Blair and Alan (Connie) Blair; her niece, Tiffany Ash; and her nephews, Ryan Fontenot, Blake Fontenot and Alex Blair.

The family will receive friends and guests from 5-8PM on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 1-3PM at the funeral home with funeral services beginning at 3PM, officiated by Rev. Gary Evers. Burial will follow at Prien Memory Gardens.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kingdom Builders Fund at Glad Tidings Church.
