Bonnie E. Beard

June 29, 1938 — January 23, 2026

Bonnie Elaine (Granger) Beard left this earth to be with her heavenly father on Friday, January 23, 2026. She was born June 29, 1938, in Lake Charles to Leo & Mary Fontenot Granger of Grand Lake. She was raised in Granger Cove along the intercoastal canal. Her father was a farmer, and she lived a farm girl’s life. She developed her passion for plants and gardening from her mother, Mary, which she would carry with her throughout her entire life. She always had plants in the ground or a pot somewhere close where she could nurture them.

She lived in Grand Lake most of her life, she attended Grand Lake School graduating as Salutatorian of her class and raised her children there until moving to Lake Charles permanently after Hurricane Rita.

She worked hard raising three children while keeping her house and home, before working in Administration at various companies in Lake Charles before finally retiring in the early 2000’s. She was a devout Catholic and she felt most at home participating in church activities and spent her entire life as a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter Society.

In her younger years she loved to cook for her family, always making each child’s “special” favorite dinner on their birthday. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and having all the family around her meant everything to her. She was a member of the Cajun French Music Association and loved to dance to Cajun music. She taught many people how to dance and jitterbug.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, David (Darlene) Beard of Lake Charles, grandchildren, Tricia (Othell) Hamilton of Denton, Texas, Ray (Hazel) Kiser of Merryville, LA, Neal (Heather) Kiser of Texarkana, TX, Jill (Freddie) Humphrey of Sulphur, Heather (James) Grigsby of Sulphur, Annette (Robert) Langley of Okmulgee OK, Layne (April) Beard of Magnolia, TX, Lori Beard of Conroe, TX, Taylor (Tyler) Stanley of Sulphur, and Tyler (Katelin) Beard of Lake Charles, and numerous great grandchildren and even a few great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leo & Mary (Fontenot) Granger, sister Myrtle Granger Benoit, brother Willie Granger, husband, Ray Allen Beard, and her children, Vicky Lynn Langley, Ricky Layne Beard and Cynthia Marie Beard.
