Brian Kelly Townsend

Brian Kelly Townsend, age 51, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. Brian was born on March 29, 1974, in Lake Charles to the late Cornelius Carroll Townsend and Patricia Salsbury Townsend.

Kelly grew up in Southwest Louisiana, but lived a good part of his life in Kansas City, Missouri, and then in Ruston, Louisiana before moving back home three years ago. Brian was a graduate of South Beauregard High School and later attended SOWELA Technical School. He spent much of his working life in the pipeline industry as an inspector. Through his work and travels, Brian formed many friendships and connections, leaving lasting impressions wherever he went. Earlier in life, he also worked as a truck driver, a role that suited his independent spirit and love of the open road.

Brian enjoyed reading and found relaxation and connection through online gaming. Whether traveling for work or unwinding at home, he valued the relationships he built and the experiences he gathered along the way.

Brian will be remembered for his sense of humor, his steady nature, his independence, and the life he lived on his own terms. Those who knew him will carry his memory with them, grateful for the moments shared and the paths that crossed. May he now find rest and peace, reunited with those who went before him and forever remembered by those who loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his sister-in-law, Angela Townsend (Billy Kirk Townsend, deceased); his nephews, Levi Carroll Townsend, and Logan Wyatt Townsend; his niece, Samantha Ann Townsend; his aunts, Candy Doga and Lynette Cockrell; his uncles, Randy Salsbury and wife Paulette, and Chris Salsbury and wife Kim; and lots of cousins and great nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Randy Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Barry Kyle Townsend, and Billy Kirk Townsend; and his uncle, George "Sonny" Salsbury and wife, Som.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with Hoye Folks presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
