Brian Ward Taylor passed away on Sunday evening, November 18, 2018, from this world into the glorious arms of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior whom he loved and served with all his heart and soul.
Brian was born on April 11, 1946, in Pineville, Louisiana, and graduated from Doyline High School in 1964. He proudly served his country as a former U.S. Marine in Vietnam from 1965 through 1968. An excellent athlete with baseball being his favorite sport to play, he had baseball scholarships at both Louisiana Tech and Northwestern, but after serving his country in the military, he enrolled at his favorite university LSU. He ended up graduating at LSUS to be closer to help his parents honoring them at all times and being one of the most loving devoted sons ever. Graduating as a finance major, God blessed him with an incredible business sense and understanding that would begin earning him not only an amazing reputation in business - specifically real estate property management and real estate investment - but one of impeccable integrity, character and honesty. He married Diane in 1983 whom no man has ever loved his wife more than Brian loved Diane and in 1986 they began Briken & Associates, Inc. in Lake Charles. Through the years the lives and people he has touched are countless. Though we all have our faults, as he would surely tell you he did, never did he stop striving to be the man, husband, father and friend that he knew God wanted him to be. Being a cancer survivor from 2000, he was always mindful and thankful with each passing year. With the reoccurrence this year, he bravely fought it once again with courage and strength and has taken a part of so many of our hearts with him only adding to the lasting legacy he leaves behind. We are rejoicing that he is now hearing the words “Well done my good and faithful servant.” His wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and countless friends and colleagues humbly but sincerely express he was such a special and truly great man and be missed more than words can express.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, soulmate, best friend and love of his life for 35 years Diane, his children whom he loved so much, daughter Bevyn, son Shane and daughter-in-law Elizabeth. His sister Kathy Tadlock and brother-in-law David, brother-in-law Bobby Dyess and sister-in-law Kayla, brother-in-law David Dyess and sister-in-law Buffy, father-in-law Jack Dyess, 5 nieces, 2 nephews, and a number of “second daughters” who he has loved and was such an ever present father figure.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wilbert V. Taylor and Ona Ward Taylor.
The family would like to thank the outpouring of love and prayers and condolences they have continuously already received.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve James will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
