Bryant "Bear" Gresham Suarez

Bryant “Bear” Suarez was born April 20, 1964 in Sulphur, LA. Bear began his eternal life on December 22, 2025, following a long, courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Shannon Suarez; brother, Wayne Suarez; brother-in-law, Charles Sanner. He is survived by his son Ben Suarez and wife (Trista Touchette Suarez); his sister-in-law, Penny Young Suarez; sister, Kristi Suarez Sanner; brother, Cubby Suarez; and his mother, Katherine Suarez. He was blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren: Harper, Ty and Julia Suarez, They were the loves of his life, and enjoyed many fun times together. Bear graduated from Sulphur High School in 1982. He attended and played golf for University of St Thomas and McNeese State University. Bear’s career spanned 40+ years as a golf professional, providing guidance and instruction to many amateur and professional golfers. Many of his students have gone on to collegiate and professional careers.

Services for Bear will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11 A.M. at Maplewood First Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Blocker officiating. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, LA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 4-8 PM at Maplewood First Baptist Church and will resume on Monday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bear Suarez Memorial Golf Foundation.
