Bryce River Waldrop, born in Opelousas on January 12, 1999, son of Scott Clyde Reese Waldrop, and Christen Joy Lucius Waldrop, passed away May 31, 2023, at age 24.
River, a graduate of Westlake High School, excelled in band as a saxophone player. He was a champion Lego builder. River was an automotive technician for Lake Charles Toyota.
He had a great sense of humor, and loved making people laugh. His infectious smile and boisterous laugh will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Clyde Waldrop; great-grandparents, Mary & Royce Lucius, June & Benjamin Johnson, Esther Newton, Leon & Yeola Newton, and grandmother, Tammy “Mimi” Manuel.
River is survived by his father, Scott Waldrop and wife, Jessica; mother, Christen Waldrop; siblings, Kayleigh Manuel, Anthony “Curtis” Manuel, and Jaryn Manuel; grandparents, Cindy & Kevin Waldrop, Ruth Andrus, Royce Lucius, Jay “Pop “Manuel; great-grandmother, Margaret Waldrop; aunts, Lucy Grantham, Jackie Manuel, Jill Manuel; uncles, Greg Lucius and wife, Elizabeth, and Jayson Manuel.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 5 p.m. in First Baptist Church in Westlake with Pastor David Brewer officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m.
