On Monday, November 13, 2017, Calvin “C.R.” Franks, 78, passed away peacefully in a local hospital.
Calvin was a native of Lake Charles, where he was raised and educated. He was a proud and active member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 106. He worked as a pipefitter and welder in the local refineries. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. One of his greatest joys was sharing is bountiful harvest with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He often said that being a “Paw” to his granddaughters was his greatest accomplishment and their love for him was immeasurable.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 54 years, Vera Franks, a daughter, Sammie Franks Meacham, son- in- law, Michael Meacham, granddaughters, Katelyn and Kassidy Meacham, sister, Pamela Hood and dear friends, Danny and Charlotte Nunez.
The family is indebted to Dr. Susan Ieyoub, Dr. Michael Broussard, and Dr. Michael Bergeron for the excellent care and kindness shown to him.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. It will continue on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM until the funeral service that will begin at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Darrell Hieronymus will officiate. A private family burial will follow at Bivens Cemetery in Beauregard Parish.
