Carl Lester Deshotel, born in Kinder on November 24, 1943, son of Eloy and Leona (Clement) Deshotel, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the age of 79. He was a life-long resident of Iowa.
Carl, an outstanding athlete, was a 1962 graduate of Lacassine High School.
He worked in the oil field service industry and was well respected for his knowledge and work ethic. In the 80’s he formed his own ATV/Motorcycle Repair Shop and operated the shop for 5 years. He then went to work in 1992 for the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office and retired in 2012.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed discussing the ins and outs of the game with his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Carl was an excellent cook and enjoyed family gatherings.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roland and Ralph Deshotel.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Alice (Landry) Deshotel; children, Chad Deshotel and fiancé, Michelle Viator, Holly Trosclair (Stevie), and Ada Lyn Hardy (Jamey); siblings, Eloy Deshotel, Jr., Tommy F. Deshotel (Robyn), Hazel F. Ardoin, and Helen M. Eaves (Don); grandchildren, Kristin Sedlock (Trey), Katie Deshotel, Addie Trosclair, Ryann Miller, and Sutton Miller; great-grandchildren, Parker and Lanie Sedlock. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will begin Friday, July 21, 2023 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a Memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Monsignor Daniel Torres, Celebrant. Cremation will follow the gathering under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
