Carl John Leger

December 14, 1965 — December 9, 2022

Carl John Leger, born in Lake Charles on December 14, 1965, son of the late Benoit Leger and Alma Gautreaux Leger, passed away after a brave battle with cancer on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 56.

Carl was a 1983 graduate of Barbe High School. He was a rig welder by trade, which allowed him to travel and enjoy the United States. He enjoyed riding Harley’s, hunting, fishing, and camping. But most of all, Carl had a strong work ethic that he instilled in both his boys. Carl was a father figure to many and was always willing to help others in need. He stood strong in his faith no matter what obstacles he faced throughout his life.

Survivors are his wife of 37 years, Marlene Babineaux Leger; sons, Dustin Leger (Carrie McCraney), and Hunter Leger (Kaeylyn Sowells); siblings, Judy Cloud (Rock), Gerald Leger (Penny), Alice Bordelon (Jerry), and Ben Allen Leger (Felicia); grandson, Westin Leger and one grandson on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Special thanks to Belinda Vidrine for being Carl’s caregiver and Marlene’s rock during these last few months.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be in Livingway Pentecostal Church on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Sweetlake-Grandlake Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Cody Leger, Benjamin Leger, Greg Cloud, Ned Richard, John Leopard, John Paul Chesson, David Vidrine, Jr., Joseph Johnson, Jr., and Westin Leger.
